Farah Nayeri

Farah presented her new book “Takedown. Art & Power in the Digital Age” and walked us through, in the words of Ai Weiwei “the crazy madness of our current art world. [...] She unravels the giant game of power money and competition ingrained in cultural institutions.”. What is the appeal of Contemporary art in today's world, see the exhibition among the others, of Beeple recently sold for $69m in New York, showing at the baroque Castello di Rivoli, near Torino (designed by Juvarra in 1718, the first Museum devoted to contemporary art in Italy).

Farah is an art & cultural writer for the New York Times and host of the CultureBlast podcast. Before that, she was a reporter for Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal Europe, worked for Bloomberg – politics and economy, then culture. Over the years, her roster of interviewees has come to include artists David Hockney, Ai Weiwei, Jeff Koons, Joan Jonas and Richard Serra; architects Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry; songwriter and poet Patti Smith; actor Morgan Freeman.

Lately Farah was also a guest speaker at the Serpentine invited by their artistic director, Hans Ulrich Obrist.
